Greenbrier Casteel and Dobson

This post is mostly for me.  While sorting out the Castle surname project, I can across one participant who did not match our Castle participants and I suggested to him that he unjoin our group and join the Casteel project as they had a group that seems to connect to Casteel and Dobson.  The Casteel ancestor is found in early Greenbrier County records being bound out...and there is the possibility that his mother was a genetic Casteel who might have had relationship with Dobson male.  This male Casteel was born c.1778

And Greenbrier County was still pending in 1777.  And became a county the year the child was born.  It was a huge county at the time going all of the way to the Ohio River and the child could have been living anywhere in the area.  By 1789 Kanawha County was formed and took the part of Greenbrier close to the Ohio River, so it is possible that there could be a few records of Greenbrier Casteel ancestor in Kanawha County before he moved to Kentucky.

But the most important fact for me is that this group is almost certainly not of interest to me.
